International festival year "Play with me"

‘Play with me’ is something we say when we want to invite people to join us at play. And this is what we do, too. We invite you to come and play!

People from the neighbourhood and those from afar. People of different genders, those coming from different places. Those with special needs and those without. Everyone is welcome to join!

There are two main organisers of ‘Play with me’ events. One is The Special Education Centre Janez Levec Ljubljana and the other, Association of Inclusive culture.

However, each event is visited by numerous other people. They come either by themselves or with their kindergartens, schools and many other institutions.

Events are held throughout Slovenia and also abroad. They take place in the centre, so that as many people can join.

‘Play with me’ events include different workshops, sporting and cultural activities, performances and much more.

People usually enjoy playing together. That is why everyone, having special needs or not, is invited to come and play.

Some people believe that people with special needs are different from themselves. But most of them had no contact with such a person whatsoever. This is what our events do. They bring together different people to show that in fact, we are not that different afterall.

People with special needs, just like those without, want to be accepted, have friends, play.

Creating something positive can only be done if we join together. So come play with us and change the world!

People are often afraid of the unknown. We only feel safe when we are around familiar people. Those that we do not know, we often don’t accept. We are afraid of what they might bring. But, it is important to realise that each of us is special. And each needs to feel accepted.

Each person enriches the world, making it nicer than it would be without him.
